"In my works I try to detect internal connections and energy that historical material has been accumulating for centuries. This energy is the result of an intense focused work of Time that is still full of losses. For example, Time destroyed the Library of Alexandria, but it kept Pompeii buried under the lava of Vesuvius. Our whole life historically seems "palimpsest", i.e. a text that is constantly at risk of being erased.
Fragmentariness corresponds to the "ragged consciousness" of a modern person. Omissions, losses are inherently valuable as well as elements of an image. I actively use this artistic technique that makes a fragment as much important as the whole. Aleatoricism (Latin "alea" for a die, randomness) is an aesthetic principle.
I work with different media. It may be a print or a photography, a drawing or a collage - they all serve one purpose that is to understand where and how randomness becomes an element of regularity". Katya-Anna Taguti
The exhibition will run until June 8.
